Good News! In Bihar, former firefighters will get 20% reservation in forest guard recruitment.

Patna. Bihar government has taken a big step towards making the path to government jobs easier for former firefighters. The state government has implemented the decision to give 20 percent horizontal reservation to former firefighters in direct recruitment of forest guards. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Reservation benefits will be available in all categories

According to the new notification, the 20 percent horizontal reservation available to former firefighters will be equally applicable to all categories including General, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Extremely Backward Classes and other reserved categories. With this, eligible former firefighters from different social classes will get additional opportunities in the recruitment process.

Amendment made to the rules

To implement this new system, amendments have been made in Bihar Under Forest Service Rules, 2013. The amended rules have become effective with their publication in the Gazette. After this, former firefighters will get the benefit of reservation in the upcoming direct recruitment of forest guards.

The government says that this step is an important initiative towards rehabilitation and increasing employment opportunities for the youth who have completed service under the Agniveer Scheme. The government has clarified that only former firefighters who are permanent residents of Bihar will get the benefit of this special reservation. If sufficient number of eligible Ex-Agniveer are not available in any category, the concerned vacant posts will be filled from other eligible candidates under the normal recruitment process.
