Flipkart Delivery Agent Arrested Bengaluru: A very shocking case which is disturbing women’s safety has come to light from Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Here, a delivery agent of e-commerce giant Flipkart has been arrested for committing obscene acts and sexual harassment with a female customer by entering her own house. The accused has been identified as Vijay Mallikarjun Kamat. The victim woman had shared this entire horrifying ordeal on social media, after which Bengaluru Police took immediate cognizance and put the accused behind the bars. After this incident, Flipkart has also taken a strict stand and terminated the accused from his job. The accused forcibly entered the house despite her refusal. According to the post shared by the victim woman on social media, this incident happened when the accused delivery agent had come to her flat to deliver a parcel. After handing over the parcel, he asked the woman for permission to use the washroom (toilet). The woman flatly refused to allow a stranger inside the house due to security reasons. The woman wrote in her post, "I told him clearly that I do not allow any stranger to come inside my flat. I also suggested him that if there was a serious emergency, he could ask for help from a male neighbor living nearby." But despite repeated refusal, the accused forcibly removed his slippers and entered the house, pushing the woman. As soon as she came out of the washroom, the woman alleged that the accused forcefully went inside the washroom. The real brutality came to light when he came out of the washroom. As soon as he came out, he started doing obscene acts in front of the woman and forcibly started showing his private parts. Pain of the victim: "At that time I was very nervous from inside. I felt extremely humiliated and unsafe. After a woman said ‘no’ the matter should have ended there. No person has any right to enter a woman’s house against her will or violate her privacy."

Quick action by Bengaluru Police; Case registered under these sections of BNS As soon as the social media post of the woman went viral on the internet, the cyber and local team of Bengaluru Police immediately took cognizance of the matter. The police contacted the victim and recorded her statement and registered an FIR against the accused under strict sections and arrested him within a few hours. Police have registered a case against accused Vijay Mallikarjun Kamat under sections 75, 79 and 329 (2) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) for sexual harassment, insulting the dignity of a woman and forcibly entering the house. At present the accused is in police custody and further legal action is being taken. Flipkart issued statement: The accused was fired from the job. After being surrounded from all sides over this shameful incident, Flipkart has issued an official statement and apologized to the victim woman and has promised to provide full cooperation in the investigation. Company spokesperson said, "We are deeply saddened by this incident. For us, the safety of customers, especially women, is of paramount importance. As soon as this matter came to our notice, we immediately dismissed the delivery agent concerned without any delay. An FIR has been registered with the police and our team is providing all necessary data and cooperation to the investigating agency."

The company further clarified that before onboarding every delivery boy, they undergo police background verification and behavioral training. Although such incidents are extremely rare, the company is conducting an internal review of its entire delivery courier system to further tighten security standards.
