Anand Singh’s best throw in Asian Under-23, won gold!

India’s Anand Singh won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw event at the Asian Under-23 Athletics Championship 2026 on Sunday. Anand has crossed the 80 meter mark for the first time.

Competing in his first international event in Ordos, China, 22-year-old Anand produced a personal best throw of 80.57m. He crossed the 80 meter mark, improving his previous best throw by 2.89 metres.

The athlete from Uttar Pradesh had entered the championships with a personal best of 77.68 metres, which he had achieved at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar on June 28. That throw came in the sixth and final round. In that championship, he stood fourth after Rohit Yadav, Yashvir Singh and Sachin Yadav.

Earlier this year, Anand had also impressed at the Indian Open Throw Competition in Patiala. He finished second with a throw of 76.94 metres. Earlier, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) had shortlisted a 54-member national track and field team for the Asian Under-23 Athletics Championships to be held in Ordos from July 9 to 12.
