Zoho comes in Arattai Aadhaar verification, enhanced security

Zoho’s indigenous messaging app Arattai has launched Aadhaar app-based alternative verification feature. Through this, users will be able to choose to receive messages only from verified accounts, which is expected to help in curbing spam and digital fraud.

New Delhi: Indian software company Zoho’s messaging platform Arattai has launched a new Aadhaar app-based verification feature to increase the security of users. Through this optional feature, users will be able to decide that they receive messages only from verified accounts. The company says the move is aimed at reducing digital fraud through spam and fake identities.

Option to receive messages only from verified users

Zoho’s indigenous messaging app Arattai has launched Aadhaar app-based alternative verification system keeping in mind the security of the users. Under this feature, users can verify their profile through Aadhaar app. After this a green Verified badge will appear on their profile.

The biggest feature of this new feature is that users can go to their privacy settings and choose the option to receive messages only from verified accounts. In such a situation, users who have not verified their account will not be able to send messages to those who have activated this security option.

Available on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac

The company has made this feature available on all platforms including Android, iOS, Windows and Mac. For profile verification, users will have to go to profile settings and select “Get Verified” option and then tap on “Verify with Aadhaar app”. After successful verification, a permanent green badge will appear on the profile.

Zoho has clarified that this process is completely optional. The company says that during this process the personal information of the user’s Aadhaar is not stored on its servers. General verified profiles will be given a blue badge, profiles verified through Aadhaar will be given a green badge, while official government accounts will be given a gray badge.

Focus on preventing spam and digital fraud

According to Jerry John, Global Product Head, Arattai, fake identities and spam are increasingly becoming major challenges on messaging platforms. For this reason, the company has launched the facility of Aadhaar based alternative identity verification, so that users can have a more secure and reliable digital experience.

Arattai was launched in the year 2021 and is completely developed in India. It runs on Zoho’s own infrastructure and provides features like chat, file sharing and group communication. The app supports 10 Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Gujarati, Oriya.

In terms of privacy, Arattai also has features like end-to-end encryption (E2EE), encrypted cloud backup and hiding phone numbers in public groups. The company believes that this combination of identity verification and strong privacy features will help increase trust among users.

Although the Aadhaar based verification feature is currently optional, it is considered an important initiative towards digital identity verification on Indian messaging platforms. If this feature is adopted widely, it can help in reducing the problems related to spam messages and fake accounts to a great extent.
