Rahul Gandhi stands firm on his statement, says ‘I will not apologise’, reiterates demand for Amit Shah’s removal

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha , Rahul Gandhi, has categorically stated that he will not apologize for his statement. He also reiterated his demand for the removal of Home Minister Amit Shah from his post.

Rahul Gandhi, in a press conference on Wednesday evening, alleged that the Home Minister was responsible for the alleged brutality and use of pellet guns during the student protests in Delhi. He said that if he had apologized, he would have been allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha, but he would not do so.

It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi’s speech during the discussion on the Examination Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha earlier today caused a huge uproar. He alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was responsible for the police firing and use of pellet guns during the student protests. These remarks drew strong opposition from the ruling party, and loud slogans were raised in the House. Following this, Rahul Gandhi held a press conference to present his side.

‘If I had apologized, I would have let you speak’

Rahul Gandhi said he saw in the House that Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were given the opportunity to speak several times, but were not allowed to complete their points. He said, “If I had apologized, I would have been allowed to speak. I will not apologize. The most important issue for me is the brutality against students on the streets of Delhi. They were shot with pellet guns.”

Amit Shah has no right to continue in office.

The Congress MP directly targeted Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that pellet guns could not be used without the Home Minister’s permission. He said that either the Home Minister ordered the use of pellet guns or he was unaware of it. Rahul said that in either case, Amit Shah has no right to remain in office. He also said that the Delhi Police operates under the Home Ministry, so accountability must be fixed.

Mentioned the letter written to the Home Minister

Rahul Gandhi stated that he had written to Home Minister Amit Shah on the 25th of last month, asking two questions. The first was whether permission was granted to use pellet guns during the student protests. The second was who were the people in plain clothes who lathi-charged the children. Rahul Gandhi claimed that he had not yet received any answers to these questions.

‘I saw the pellets with my own eyes’

The Congress leader also claimed that he personally saw pellets on the bodies of several students. He alleged that the government is denying the use of pellet guns, while students are calling for their use. He said that students are protesting against issues such as the education system, paper leaks, and rising education costs, and their voices should be heard.

Reiterates demand for answers from the government

Rahul Gandhi stated that his struggle is not for any personal issue but for the rights of students. He reiterated that he will not apologize for his statement and will continue to demand answers from the government on questions related to the student movement. Meanwhile, the ruling party has rejected Rahul Gandhi’s allegations and protested his statements inside and outside the House.
