J&K's Reasi Police Attaches Properties of Five Pak-Based Terror Handlers

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday attached the immovable properties of five Pakistan-based terror handlers in Reasi district as part of an ongoing crackdown on the financial networks supporting terrorism, officials said.

The action was taken during the investigation of FIR No. 70/2024 registered at Mahore Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the E&IMCO Act.

Police said the attachment proceedings were conducted by a team led by SDPO Mahore Parul Bhardwaj along with the Station House Officer of Mahore Police Station, in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and local witnesses.

The attached properties belong to five individuals identified by police as Pakistan-based terror handlers — Alaf Din of Shajroo, Ghulam Mohammad alias Gamma of Shajroo, Mohammad Ashraf of Chakrass (Mulass), Shabir Ahmad of Chakrass (Jamsalan) and Bihar Din of Sildhar.

The properties, comprising several kanals and marlas of land in the Mahore area, were attached under provisions of the UAPA to prevent their alleged misuse for terror financing.

According to police, investigations have revealed that the accused had crossed into Pakistan for terrorist training and are currently operating from across the border, where they are allegedly involved in facilitating and coordinating militant activities.

Officials said the probe found that the properties were vulnerable to transfer and that any proceeds generated from them could potentially be used to support terrorist operations.

The attachment was carried out after approval from Police Headquarters under the provisions of the UAPA, which empowers authorities to freeze, seize and attach assets linked to terrorism-related activities.

Reasi Police said the action was aimed at disrupting the terror ecosystem by cutting off financial resources available to militant networks and reiterated its commitment to taking strict legal action against those involved in supporting terrorism.
