Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that India Mobile Congress (IMC) is no longer just an event for India, but has become a major platform for the global telecom industry. He expressed confidence that India will lead the world in the field of 6G technology in the coming years. He also announced the establishment of the country's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Madhya Pradesh.
Speaking at the India Mobile Congress event, Scindia said that in the last decade, IMC has given a new identity to the Indian telecom sector and today it has become a prestigious event of international level.
5G users will double by 2030
According to Scindia, currently about 50 crore people are using 5G services in the country. The government aims to increase this number to 100 crore by 2030. He said that India is now becoming not only a consumer of new technologies but also a country that develops them and takes them to the world.
He said that India is also playing an active role in global standard setting institutions like ITU and 3GPP, which will strengthen the country's participation in the development of 6G technology.
6G will include AI and digital technology
The Union Minister said that the 6G network will not be limited to just fast internet. In this, an integrated ecosystem of physical infrastructure, digital network and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be created. In the future, this technology will work to effectively connect humans as well as machines, smart devices and AI systems.
Madhya Pradesh got a big project
Scindia announced that the country's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone will be developed in Madhya Pradesh. It aims to promote domestic manufacturing of telecom equipment in the country and establish India as a global telecom manufacturing hub.
Data became cheaper, mobile connections increased
He said that at present there are about 133 crore mobile connections in the country. At the same time, there has been a big change in the price of data. Data which was once available for up to ₹250 per GB has now come down to around ₹8 per GB.
Sanchar Saathi app got big success
Scindia said that the government's Sanchar Saathi app has received 2.5 crore downloads so far. This app helps people in blocking stolen mobile phones, identifying fake mobile connections and protecting against cyber frauds.
IMC completes 10 years
He said that completion of 10 years of India Mobile Congress is a big achievement of the Indian telecom industry. Today this platform has become an important platform for global experts and companies related to telecom, artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
