Indian shooters busy preparing for World Cup and Asian Games, 35 players including Manu Bhaker included in high-performance camp.
New Delhi: The high-performance national camp of Indian shooters has started in New Delhi from Sunday to strengthen the preparations for the ISSF World Cup to be held in Hangzhou, China and the Asian Games to be held in Japan.
A total of 35 top shooters from rifle, pistol and shotgun events are participating in this special camp. The Indian shooting team will finalize its preparations in this training camp with the aim of performing better in the upcoming international competitions.
Separate training for rifle, pistol and trap players
Under the national camp, training for rifle and pistol events will continue till July 17, while the camp for trap shooters will be held from July 14 to 20.
At the same time, the skeet team is already engaged in practice since July 9 and is preparing for the upcoming competitions.
The Hangzhou ISSF World Cup will be held from July 20 to 29. After this, the Asian Games are to be organized in Japan from 19 September to 3 October.
Many big players including Manu Bhakar join the camp
India’s leading shooters are participating in this high-performance camp. Apart from two-time Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, players like rifle shooter Rudraksh Patil, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and Elavenil Valarivan are included.
These players are expected to perform brilliantly for India in the upcoming international competitions.
Indian and foreign experts will provide training
In the camp, the players are being trained under the supervision of Indian coaches as well as international experts.
Coaches include Olympic double trap champion Peter Wilson, rifle specialist Thomas Farnik, pistol coach Jelena Arunovic and skeet specialist Riccardo Filippelli.
Taking advantage of the experience of experts, Indian shooters will work on improving their technique, mental strength and competition strategy.
