Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that in light of the demands of students across the country and the recent student protests, the government has introduced a vital bill in Parliament to prevent paper leaks and exam irregularities. He stated that if the issue is not discussed in Parliament despite such a massive student protest, it is not good for Parliament and democracy. Parliament is the largest platform for debate and discussion, and therefore, such important issues should be discussed there productively.
Speaking to reporters on the Parliament campus, Rijiju alleged that the Congress and some opposition parties are disrupting the discussion on the bill and disrupting proceedings by raising slogans, showing black cards, and using other methods. He appealed to the Congress and opposition parties to understand the sentiments of the country’s students and participate in the discussion on this important bill instead of creating chaos.
He stated that the Prime Minister has taken a major decision to reform the system and a task force has been formed. This bill has been enacted to address this issue. He added that this historic bill contains strict and time-bound provisions to prevent question paper leaks, as well as strict punishment for those found guilty, which will further secure the future of students. He appealed to all parties to engage in serious and positive discussions on this bill, keeping the interests of students at the forefront.
