The Supreme Court has heard a petition challenging the use of pellet guns against protesters during the Parliament March in Delhi. On Thursday, the court issued a notice to the central government in the matter and directed the central government to provide medical treatment to those injured by pellet guns.
The Supreme Court has ordered the central government to preserve a complete record of the weapons and bullets used by the RAF (Rapid Action Force) deployed at Jantar Mantar during the protest against the NEET paper leak. The court also directed that pellet-injured victims be provided with full medical treatment.
During Thursday’s hearing, the Supreme Court asked the central government what the SOP is for the use of pellet guns. The court issued a notice to the government seeking a response.
The Supreme Court also directed the petitioner to amend the petition seeking a ban on pellet guns.

Mohana was hearing a petition filed on Thursday by retired Intelligence Bureau Special Director Yashovardhan Azad and two others (Prashant Kumar Singh and Sheikh Irshad Mansoori).
The petition seeks compensation and medical treatment for all victims injured by pellets during the police action at Jantar Mantar on July 20. The petition states that the use of pellet guns to disperse a peacefully protesting crowd is unjustified, as it is unconstitutional and defies logic.
