How to make Suji Potato Bites
Step 1: Prepare Semolina Batter
Combine semolina, curd and water in a large bowl and mix well. The batter should neither be too thick nor too thin. Keep it covered for 15 to 20 minutes so that the semolina swells properly.
Step 2: Make Spicy Potato Filling
Mash the boiled potatoes well. Now add green chilli, ginger, coriander, red chilli, turmeric, garam masala, chaat masala and salt and mix well. Make small balls from the prepared mixture.
Step 3: Prepare the bytes
Now dip the potato balls thoroughly in the prepared semolina batter so that they get an even layer of batter. If you want, you can also roll them lightly in dry semolina for extra crispiness.
Step 4: Cook until golden and crispy
Heat oil in a pan. Now fry the prepared bites on medium flame until they become golden and crispy. If a light snack is preferred, these can also be prepared in shallow fryer or air fryer in less oil.
Step 5: Serve hot
Take out the prepared Suji Potato Bites on tissue paper to remove excess oil. Serve them hot with green chutney, tomato sauce or masala tea.
Tips to Make Perfect Suji Potato Bites
- Keep the batter for at least 15 minutes.
- Keep the potato filling completely dry.
- The oil should not be too hot, otherwise the bites may burn from outside.
- Brush lightly with oil if making in the air fryer.
- Grated cheese can also be added to the filling to enhance the taste.
