The mist on the mountain. A cup of steaming tea. And a breath of solitude. It is difficult to find a traveler who has not lost his mind in such a canvas of mountain love. Recently, the web series ‘Musafir Cafe’ has taken social media by storm. Just as the chemistry of Sudha, Chandar and Preeti’s love has touched the hearts, the audience has also caught the attention of that unique cafe built on the lap of the mountain. Is the cafe seen on screen just a shooting set, or does it exist in reality?
Musafir Cafe is not an artificial set. It is physically present in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. Although it is presented as a cafe on screen, it is actually an ancient traditional ‘homestay’. This is an ideal address for mountain lovers to spend time in solitude in the lap of the mountains.

Where to find ‘Tare’?
This heritage property, located in the Jharipani area of Mussoorie, is actually called ‘Jharipani Castle’. Green-roofed structures, beautiful wooden cottages, a large terrace facing the valley and surroundings decorated with colorful prayer flags – just like the one seen in the web series. Currently owned by Mr. and Mrs. Bahri, you can spend your next hill vacation at this homestay.

What is special about this castle?
This castle has a long history. It was built by Crown Breweries in 1932. Initially, it was used as a guest house for military commanders and high-ranking British officers. Over time, it has changed hands and today it is a unique haven for tourists. It has been converted into a modern homestay while maintaining the architecture of the old era. When you come here, you can feel a strange nostalgia of the British era.
How much does it cost?
There are multiple options for staying at Jharipani Castle. Depending on your budget and preference, you can choose from deluxe, semi-deluxe, villa suite, or romantic log hut. Room rates start at approximately 6,400 taka per night, which can go up to 24,000 taka depending on the category.

It is worth mentioning that this series is directed by Ruchir Arun, based on the popular novel ‘Musafir Cafe’ by writer Divya Prakash Dubey. Vikrant Massey, Vedika Pinto and Mahima Makwana play the lead roles. If you want to experience the magical atmosphere seen on screen with your own eyes, you can visit this traditional address in Mussoorie.
