LivWell expands employee wellness ecosystem in Vietnam

The Singapore-based InsurTech company signed strategic partnership agreements with InSmart and DiaB to support these initiatives at a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on July 7.

At the event, the company outlined plans to expand OneHealth from a conventional employee benefits solution focused primarily on medical expense reimbursement into a broader healthcare platform integrating preventive care, financial protection, and long-term health support.

The platform combines health insurance, healthcare services, wellness incentive programs, and health monitoring tools within a single application.

For employers, it provides a centralized view of workforce health and benefits utilization to support benefits management. Employees can monitor health indicators through the LivWell app while accessing health screenings, workplace wellness activities, and healthcare services.

“We believe health benefits should be integrated into employees’ daily lives, rather than only utilized when medical issues arise,” said Nikhil Verma, Co-Founder and Group CEO of the company.

“With OneHealth, we aim to help organizations build healthier workplaces where health is proactively managed and every employee receives appropriate support throughout their wellness journey.”

According to research cited by LivWell, 70% of adults recognize that wellness programs contribute to workplace productivity.

The company also noted that households in Vietnam continue to pay approximately 39.5-40% of healthcare expenses out of pocket, despite public and private health coverage, compared with the World Health Organization’s recommended range of 15-20%.

The partnership with InSmart will allow users to submit insurance claims and track benefits through the LivWell application, while the collaboration with DiaB will add remote consultations, personalized nutrition guidance, and chronic disease management services.

Alongside the expansion of OneHealth, LivWell announced plans to develop insurance products designed for people with specific health conditions, focusing first on cancer.

Citing statistics from K Hospital, the company said patients can pay up to 70% of cancer treatment costs out of pocket. It also cited research published in 2017 indicating that 68% of Vietnamese households affected by cancer experienced catastrophic health expenditure, underscoring the financial burden of treatment.

Balakrishnan Ambat, Co-Founder and CEO of LivWell Vietnam, said: “We view the future of healthcare and wellness as not merely paying for treatment costs, but empowering people to live healthier lives before illness occurs while receiving appropriate support when facing complex health conditions.”

The company expects its expanded ecosystem and future condition-focused insurance products to contribute to the development of employee health benefits in Vietnam by helping businesses invest in workforce wellbeing while expanding access to healthcare services throughout different stages of life.

According to the company, since 2020 it has served more than 320,000 users and supported more than 450 businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises, through employee benefits and wellness programs.
