- Kylian Mbappe took part in the practice session for a limited time.
- Suffered a slight ankle injury in the quarter-finals against Morocco.
- Coach Didier Deshan expressed confidence in Mbappe’s fitness.
Dallas. France captain Kylian Mbappe skipped the team’s final practice session on Monday ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals.
However, the team management has clarified that his minor ankle injury is not serious and he will be fully available to play in the match against Spain.
Mbappe suffered a minor ankle injury during last week’s quarter-final match against Morocco. France won that match 2-0 and made it to the semi-finals. In the final stages of the match, he was called out of the field as a precautionary measure.
Mbappe took part only for a limited time in the practice session held on Monday before the semi-finals. France head coach Didier Deshan denied any concerns about his fitness.
“Kilian is absolutely fine. He has practiced. We just kept his training time a little shorter. While other players spent 15 minutes in a drill, Mbappe took part for 10 minutes,” Deshaun said.
Mbappe, who is in excellent form in the World Cup, has proved to be France’s biggest match winner. In such a situation, his presence in the semi-final against Spain is being considered a big relief for France.
This much-awaited semi-final between France and Spain will be played on Tuesday, in which the winning team will enter the final of the World Cup 2026.
