Uttarakhand News: To accelerate Uttarakhand’s development, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved several important and significant decisions. The government’s primary focus is strengthening the state’s infrastructure, making elaborate preparations for upcoming religious events, and providing relief to all sections of society. Moving forward in this direction, the Chief Minister has approved significant budgets for improving police systems in Haridwar, streamlining traffic in Dehradun, new construction projects for the Kumbh Mela 2027, and public welfare schemes. These decisions will greatly benefit both the state’s residents and the visiting pilgrims.
New ghats to be built in Haridwar for Kumbh Mela 2027
The state government has already intensified preparations to ensure a grand and smooth Kumbh Mela, to be held in Haridwar in 2027. Under the Irrigation Department, new ghats and a path of faith will be constructed on both banks of the Ganga River in Haridwar. To this end, the Chief Minister has approved ₹98.18 crore for the construction of a ghat and a path of faith on the left bank of the Ganga River in the Gaurishankar area, downstream of Chandi Ghat. ₹115.91 crore has been approved for the construction of a ghat and a path of faith on the right bank of the Ganga in the Bairagi Camp area. A total of over ₹214 crore will be spent on these two projects to ensure that devotees face no difficulties while bathing.
Police post in Haridwar and road widening in Dehradun
Steps have also been taken to strengthen security and police administration. A total of ₹241.48 lakh has been allocated for the construction of a new administrative building for the police post in Sultanpur, Haridwar district, with the first installment of ₹96.59 lakh released. Furthermore, to ease traffic congestion in the capital, Dehradun, a 1,650-kilometer stretch of the New Cantt Road will be widened from two lanes to three. A ₹11.95 crore project has been approved to relocate utility and water pipelines during this road upgrade.
Children of ex-servicemen will get scholarship for their studies
Keeping the families of Uttarakhand’s veterans in mind, the Chief Minister has taken another sensitive decision. Scholarship funds have been approved to support the higher education of students dependent on veterans in the state. Approval has been given to release an amount of ₹36.84 lakh from the Kargil Martyrs’ Family Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund for these promising young people pursuing engineering, medical, and PhD programs. This decision will significantly assist children from financially disadvantaged military families in completing their studies.
Dearness relief for pensioners increased to 60 percent
To provide financial relief to state pensioners, the government has taken a significant decision to increase their dearness allowance. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has increased the dearness allowance rate for civil and family pensioners who have worked in public bodies and enterprises. This decision increases the current dearness allowance rate to 60 percent per month, effective January 1, 2026. This government move will benefit thousands of pensioners and increase their monthly income. These decisions by the Dhami government clearly demonstrate that public welfare is being fully addressed, along with basic amenities, in the state.
