New Delhi: The ongoing protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) appear to be intensifying. The Jammu and Kashmir Joint People’s Action Committee (JAAC) has leveled serious allegations regarding the situation. The organization claims that a large number of people have been killed and many others injured in security forces’ actions over the past few days. A large demonstration in Islamabad is also said to have sparked renewed support for the movement.
Sardar Umar Nazir Kashmiri, a member of the Joint People’s Action Committee, said that over 50 people have been killed and hundreds injured in security forces’ actions over the past three to four days. He described the actions as barbaric terrorism and alleged that people were directly firing on peaceful protesters. However, these claims could not be independently verified.
Rawalakot and Muzaffarabad were mentioned
Umar Nazir Kashmiri stated that he was present at the ongoing sit-in at D-Chowk in Rawalakot, and the demonstrations continued. He stated that similar incidents occurred in Muzaffarabad, where protesters faced the use of force. He stated that those involved in the protest were demanding their rights.
Islamabad rally called historic
He reported that a large protest was held on July 31st at the G-10 Markaz in Islamabad, led by former Senator Mushtaq Khan. Many people from Pakistan and Kashmir participated in the rally, expressing their solidarity with the movement. Omar Nazir Kashmiri described this as an important step for the movement.
Expressing gratitude to supporters
The JAAC leader thanked former Senator Mushtaq Khan, the organizers of the protest, and all those involved. He said this support strengthens the movement and boosts the morale of those affected. He also expressed hope that people will continue to stand with them in the future. He said that the ongoing movement in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is now becoming increasingly widespread.
