Red Fort closed for next 1 month, if you plan to visit Delhi then change it now

If you are planning to visit Delhi in the coming days and see the beauty of the historical Red Fort, then this news is very important for you. Due to preparations for Independence Day 2026, the entry of tourists in this world famous heritage of Delhi has been temporarily banned. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has issued an official order informing the tourists that now they will not be able to enter inside the Red Fort for the next one month.

How long will the ban last?

According to the order issued by ASI, 15 July 2026 to 15 August 2026 Till now the entry of common tourists into the Red Fort will be completely restricted. During this time, even if you try to book tickets online or reach the spot, you will not be allowed inside the premises. Therefore, if you have made any plans to travel to Delhi, it would be wise to change your dates.

Why was the Red Fort closed?

The main event of the country on the occasion of Independence Day is organized every year from the ramparts of the Red Fort, from where the Prime Minister hoists the tricolor and addresses the nation. To conduct this historic ceremony in a safe and orderly manner, the entire complex is handed over to the security forces.

This decision has been taken under Rule 5 of ‘Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Rules, 1959’. It is mandatory to keep the entire fort empty for stage preparation, installation of hi-tech security equipment and rehearsal of various security agencies before the ceremony.

Doors will open only after 15th August

Not to worry, this ban is only for one month. As soon as the main Independence Day celebrations end, the entry gates of the Red Fort will be reopened for the general public. If you want to see this historical heritage closely, then choosing a date after August 15 would be a better option.

Along with this, security arrangements will be very strict in the entire area around the Red Fort. In view of Independence Day, there will be barricading, intensive searching and some temporary restrictions on traffic. Tourists visiting the capital are advised to check the latest guidelines issued by the administration before travelling, so that they do not have to face any problem.
