IND vs ENG 1st ODI: Bumrah-Prasidh’s storm in Edgbaston, England bundled out for 258, all eyes on RO-KO

Ind vs Eng 1st ODI: The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and England was played on 14 July (Tuesday) at the Edgbaston ground in Birmingham. In the match, England captain Harry Brook won the toss and decided to bat first. But the Indian bowlers proved Harry Brook’s decision wrong and bowled out the entire England team for 258 runs.

England had a steady start, but India gave two big shocks in a row in the 13th over. First, Jacob Bethel scored 14 runs and was caught out by Washington Sundar on the ball of Gurnoor Brar. In the same over, set batsman Ben Duckett also scored 43 runs and was caught by Jasprit Bumrah on the boundary line. Gurnoor Brar put England’s innings on the backfoot by taking two important wickets in the same over.

Indian bowlers performed brilliantly

After this, captain Shubman Gill adopted an aggressive strategy and handed the ball to Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah got captain Harry Brook (1) caught out by Rohit Sharma on the very first ball of the 14th over. This was also the 150th wicket of Bumrah’s ODI career.

After this, in 16.1 overs, Prasidh Krishna gave India the fourth success by sending Jos Buttler (5) to the pavilion through a brilliant catch by Gurnoor Brar. Buttler faced 14 balls and could not hit any four or six.

KL Rahul took a brilliant catch

After three balls, Prasidh Krishna also dismissed Sam Curran without opening the account. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul gave the fifth blow to England by taking a brilliant catch. Karan returned without scoring after playing three balls. After this, Shivam Dubey gave India the sixth success by taking the wicket of Will Jacques (20) in 21.4 overs.

However, the biggest attraction of this wicket was the brilliant catch of KL Rahul. Dubey’s ball hit the edge of Jacques’ bat and Rahul jumped in the air to his right and took an excellent catch with one hand. Jacques scored 20 runs in 19 balls with the help of three fours. This was also Shivam Dubey’s first wicket in ODI cricket after August 2024.

Joe Root handled one end

Both of them made an important partnership of 121 runs for the seventh wicket and put the team in a strong position. However, this partnership broke at the score of 228, when Liam Dawson scored 68 runs and was caught out by Rohit Sharma on the ball of Axar Patel. After this, Akshar Patel did not even let Joffra Archer stay for long. Archer was caught out by Washington Sundar after scoring 12 runs in 6 balls.
