Uttarakhand CM Dhami plants sapling at Dhanvantari Dham.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in a large-scale plantation drive on Tuesday at Malagram in the Yamkeshwar block of Pauri Garhwal district to mark the Harela festival, planting a sapling to promote environmental conservation and a greener Uttarakhand.

During his visit, the Chief Minister toured the Shri Dhanvantari Dham Herbal World Himalaya, where he reviewed the collection of rare medicinal plants, ongoing research activities, and Ayurveda-based innovations. He also inspected the meditation hut within the premises.

Speaking on Uttarakhand’s biodiversity, Himalayan medicinal flora, and traditional Ayurvedic knowledge, Dhami emphasized that the state’s natural heritage is invaluable for India and the world. He highlighted the importance of conservation and scientific research, stating that such efforts would strengthen environmental protection, while encouraging the cultivation of medicinal plants, Ayurveda-based research, herbal tourism, and the creation of new livelihood and self-employment opportunities for local youth.

Shri Dhanvantari Dham Herbal World Himalaya, located at Malagram, is a unique herbal park in India, where rare herbs and medicinal plants from different states and Himalayan regions are being scientifically conserved and cultivated. The center is developing as an important facility integrating traditional medicine systems with modern scientific research.

CM Dhami also planted a sapling beside Yog Guru Baba Ramdev on the premises of Shri Dhanvantari Dham.

Earlier, Dhami inspected the construction of the Science City project at the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) and participated in the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP) symposium. Addressing the gathering on Monday, he stated that the Science City project in Dehradun is progressing rapidly and will become a leading center for science, innovation, and research, serving students, researchers, and scientists across the country in the coming years.
