On the other hand, rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory type of arthritis that not only damages the joints but also affects other systems of our body. This happens when the immune system mistakenly attacks the cells and tissues in our joints. Whereas arthritis affects bones and joints. Pain, stiffness, swelling, redness of the skin and restriction of movement in the joints are some of the symptoms of arthritis. There are also some foods that need to be eliminated from the diet to avoid increasing symptoms and pain.

Do not consume these foods at all in arthritis
added sugar
Extra sugar is commonly found in chocolate, soda, candies, juices, soft drinks, cereals and even some sauces. You should avoid foods that contain added sugar as it intensifies the pain of arthritis. Consuming sugary things and sweets increases joint pain quickly. Sugar also increases the risk of arthritis. People suffering from arthritis should especially avoid it.

    Gluten is a type of protein commonly found in grains such as wheat, barley and rye. Anything made with these grains contains gluten such as breads, buns, cakes, pasta, and more. Gluten is said to increase inflammation in your joints which can result in increased pain. Avoiding gluten in your diet can help reduce inflammation and relieve pain.

    If you have arthritis, foods that are high in salt, such as processed meats, soups, cheese and some varieties of pizza, should be avoided. High sodium intake in the form of salt can also increase the risk of developing arthritis.

    highly processed foods
    Highly processed foods include junk food, juices and other such things. They contain added sugar, processed grains, and preservatives that together contribute to worsening arthritis pain. Consuming such foods increases swelling in your joints and hence they should be avoided.

    Liquor
    Alcohol can also worsen the swelling and pain of arthritis. Alcohol is also said to increase the pain of gout which is caused by high amounts of uric acid in one’s blood. Alcohol consumption also increases the risk of developing osteoarthritis.
