The makers of director Krishnakumar’s highly anticipated period drama “GDN” on Saturday shared the first look of actor Karunakaran. He will be seen playing the role of Perunkilli in the film.
The makers posted the actor’s first look on their official Instagram account and also revealed the name of the character he plays in the film. In the post, the makers wrote, “Introducing Karunakaran as Perunkilli. Power has many allies.”
Previously, the makers had revealed the looks of the rest of the cast. These included Sheela as young Chellamal, Teejay Arunasalam as young G.D. Naidu, and Aditi Balan as Padmavati. R. Madhavan will be seen playing the role of G.D. Naidu.
The film is based on the life of the famous Indian inventor, farmer, and social worker G.D. Based on the life of Naidu, actress Aditi Balan will entertain everyone by playing the role of Padmavati.
The makers have already released the trailer of the film, which gives a thrilling glimpse into the life, struggles, and unwavering rebellion of the great inventor Gopalaswami Doraiswamy Naidu (GD Naidu). The film was shot primarily in Coimbatore, where Naidu made his home.
The screenplay is co-written by Krishnakumar Ramkumar and R. Madhavan. It is produced under the banner of Varghese Moolan and R. Madhavan.
Directed by Krishnakumar Ramkumar, “GDN” stars R. Madhavan in the lead role as GD Naidu, known as “India’s Edison.” Besides Madhavan, the film also stars Jayaram, Priyamani, Dushara Vijayan, Sathyaraj, Aditi Balan, Vijay Rai, and TJ Arunasalam in pivotal roles. The film’s music is composed by Govind Vasantha and cinematography is by Arvind Kamalanathan.
The film is set to release in theaters on August 7, 2026. It remains to be seen how audiences respond to the film.
