‘Next week is the worst for Iran’, Trump threatens to blow up power plants and bridges

The tension between America and Iran in the Middle East is at its peak. US President Donald Trump has given such a warning regarding Iran which has increased the heartbeats of the entire world. Trump has clearly said that if Iran does not stop its military activities and does not come to the negotiating table, America will destroy their power plants, bridges and other critical infrastructure. This warning is a direct attack on Iran’s existence and its economic backbone.

Trump’s direct warning: ‘We will destroy their power plants’

Speaking to reporters, Trump adopted an aggressive tone and said, “Next week is going to be very bad for them (Iran). Next week will be about power plants, next week will be about bridges. We will destroy all their power plants.” This statement of Trump has come when there is already a rift between the two countries over air strikes and naval pressure. Although this is a public warning, Trump has a history of not being slow to follow through on what he says.

What is the root of stress?

The main reason for this ongoing tension between Iran and America is the breakdown of a ceasefire agreement, for which Pakistan, Oman and Qatar had mediated. America alleges that Iran is continuously targeting its allies and maritime activities. At the same time, Iran claims that whatever military action it has taken is just a response to America’s earlier attacks. Both countries are accusing each other of violating the agreement, making the situation more explosive.

What will happen if the power plant and bridge collapse?

According to military experts, targeting power plants and bridges would be a new and destructive phase of the war. If such action takes place, it will have a direct impact not only on the army but also on the lives of common citizens. Due to interruption of power supply, hospitals, industries, communication networks and transportation systems will completely collapse. International Humanitarian Law also says that there should be a distinction between military and civilian targets during war, but Trump’s warning shows that tensions can go to any extent.

Will regional conflict increase now?

After this aggressive stance of Trump, concern has increased at the global level. The United Nations and diplomatic experts around the world are apprehensive that if the two countries do not soon choose the path of dialogue, this regional conflict could take the form of a major war. At present, the eyes of the whole world are on whether Iran changes its strategy after this threat or whether America is really going to take any major military action.
