DIY Web Shooter: If you are also a fan of Spider-Man, then this information will surely excite you. Imagine having such a device on your wrist which starts throwing web like Spider-Man at the press of a button. It may sound like a scene from a movie but a YouTuber has claimed to turn it into reality. Let us tell you that a YouTube creator named Plentiful Props 3D has created such a Web Shooter which is inspired by Spider-Man movies in design and working method. In this project, a wonderful combination of 3D printing, electronics and mechanical engineering can be seen.
This is how the high-tech Web Shooter was prepared
Talking about this device, the YouTuber used an ESP32-S3 Mini development board mounted on a custom PCB. He also added several electronic components, including an 18650 lithium-ion battery, a charging module, a kill switch, and a trigger button. When the user presses the trigger button, the signal is transmitted to the ESP32 board.
The motor then activates, pressing the spray pump to eject a special liquid. This liquid, upon contact with air, forms a thread-like web, giving it the appearance of Spider-Man’s web.
The biggest challenge was the spray system.
The video shows that the most difficult part of this project was creating a spray mechanism that would work with the right power and precision. The motor underwent numerous tests to achieve this. Ultimately, a high-torque metal gear motor was used, which could operate the spray pump with sufficient pressure. The entire body of the device and the liquid cartridge were created using a 3D printer. Because this system uses acetone, the container was printed from a special material that would be resistant to the chemical.
How is a web like Spider-Man made?
The most interesting part of this Web Shooter is its web. It’s made from a special mixture of fabric adhesive and acetone. This solution comes out as a spray and, upon contact with air, solidifies into a thread-like structure, resembling Spider-Man’s web. However, this device is merely a DIY engineering project and doesn’t offer superhero-like powers. Nevertheless, it shows that with modern 3D printing, electronics, and creative engineering, movie fantasies can be made quite real.
