Election Commission extended the deadline for voter list revision, dates changed in 4 states including Delhi

Tezzbuzz Desk – The Election Commission of India (ECI) has given a big update regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. The Commission has extended the deadline for the ongoing voter list correction process in Delhi, Punjab, Telangana and Karnataka. Under the new schedule, the dates for door-to-door verification, release of draft voter list and publication of final voter list have been changed.

The Election Commission says that this campaign is being run with the aim of keeping the voter list more accurate and updated.

Verification will continue in Delhi till August 8

In the capital Delhi, the work of door-to-door verification of voters by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will now continue till August 8 instead of July 29.

At the same time, the draft voter list of Delhi will now be released on 17th August instead of 5th August.

Deadline extended in Punjab also

In Punjab, the last date for door-to-door verification under the SIR process has been extended from July 24 to August 3.

The draft voter list in the state will now be published on August 13 instead of July 31. At the same time, the date for releasing the final voter list has been extended from October 10 to October 12.

Schedule changed in Telangana and Karnataka also

As per the revised schedule in Telangana, the draft voter list will be released on August 10, while the final voter list will be published on October 12.

The door-to-door verification work by BLOs in Karnataka will now continue till August 8. Here the draft voter list will be released on 17th August instead of 5th August. At the same time, the date of the final voter list has been changed from October 7 to October 19.

Time has increased in Haryana and Andhra Pradesh also

Earlier, the Election Commission had also extended the SIR schedule in Haryana and Andhra Pradesh. Delhi, Punjab, Telangana, Karnataka, Haryana and Andhra Pradesh are part of the third phase of SIR, which began on May 14.

According to ECI, after the completion of this phase, the voter list correction campaign will be completed in almost all the states and union territories of the country except Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

According to the Election Commission, the objective of the SIR campaign is to keep the voter list accurate, transparent and updated. The officials were facing many administrative and technical challenges during door-to-door verification.
