Launched with the aim of uniting youth across the country against addiction and drugs, the Prime Minister emphasized that physical and mental health is crucial for the nation’s youth to build a developed India.

PM Modi said that millions of youth across the country have pledged to stay away from drugs. Calling them leaders of this campaign, he said that the country needs their energy and strength. Therefore, drug abuse cannot be tolerated at any cost.

Referring to the impact of drug addiction on a person and his family, Prime Minister Modi said that drug addiction not only harms one person but also shatters the dreams of the entire family.

He said that addiction shatters a mother’s dreams and leads to the untimely death of a dream. It also weakens the nation’s strength.

PM Modi said that drug-free youth are very important for building a developed India, because the energy of youth is needed to take the country forward.

‘Young people should understand the dangers of alcohol and drugs’

The Prime Minister said that when the country has set the goal of a developed India, then it is important that the youth are healthy both physically and mentally and are full of self-confidence.

He urged young people to stay away from life-threatening habits like drugs. The PM said the campaign aims to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of addiction and drugs.

He said that everyone will have to take a pledge that the youth of the country should understand the dangers of drug addiction, remain aware and play a role in keeping themselves and others away from it.

‘Drugs should not be accepted at any cost’

PM Modi said that drug abuse should not be tolerated in the country at any cost. He added that there is great power in collective efforts, and through this power, the “Drug-Free Youth Campaign” will reach every youth in the country.

According to the Prime Minister, millions of youth across the country have pledged to remain drug-free. He said this campaign will not be limited to just one day, but will be continued for the next 100 weeks.

Healthy youth are essential for a developed India.

Prime Minister Modi said that this campaign is not just about the individual, but about the future of families, society, and the entire country. The name of the “Drug-Free Youth” initiative, launched under the “Develop India Sankalp Abhiyan,” clearly clarifies its purpose.

He said that when India is moving towards becoming a developed nation, it is important for the youth of the country to remain physically and mentally healthy, be full of self-confidence and stay away from the deadly addiction of drugs.

Describing the youth as the biggest strength of this campaign, PM Modi appealed to them to take the lead in building a drug-free India.

It started as a pilot project from Kashi.

The Prime Minister explained that this anti-drug initiative was launched as a pilot project in Kashi last year. It is now being expanded on a large scale across the country.

PM Modi stated that more than 125 spiritual organizations are also involved in this campaign. He said that for the welfare of millions of countrymen, various organizations and youth will work together to advance the resolve for a drug-free India.

The Prime Minister called upon the youth to not only stay away from drugs themselves but also make their friends, family and people around them aware of its dangers, so that the goal of a developed India can be achieved with the strength of a healthy and empowered youth power.
