Mayawati takes a major decision, taking charge of four states from Ashok Siddhartha, also clarifies the role of Akash Anand.

UP News: Amidst preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has made a major organizational change. She has withdrawn the charge of Delhi, Kerala, Gujarat, and Karnataka from Ashok Siddharth, the father-in-law of her brother-in-law and nephew, Akash Anand. Mayawati had previously expelled Ashok Siddharth from the party on charges of indiscipline. He was later re-inducted into the party along with Akash Anand.

The BSP chief’s decision is being linked to preparations for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Ashok Siddharth will no longer be in charge of Delhi, Kerala, Gujarat, and Karnataka. However, the party has not publicly disclosed the detailed reason for this change.

Mayawati clarified on Akash Anand’s role

Mayawati clarified on the social media platform X that she makes all major party decisions, stating that she is responsible for everything from state-level meetings to the selection of candidates for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. She added that reports of Akash Anand’s elevation or decline are completely misleading and that she has no role in selecting candidates.

This is what she said about the selection of candidates:

The BSP chief stated that necessary instructions have been issued to state and divisional level officials in view of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She added that more than two dozen potential candidates have been interviewed and their names have been finalized so far, and she will make the final decision on the candidates going forward.

Mayawati stated that in the assembly constituencies where candidates have been finalized, senior officials are announcing the candidates through public meetings with her permission. In some places, Akash Anand will also announce candidates at party public meetings, but this is part of the party’s regular process.

She also stated that she had sent Akash Anand to public meetings and organizational meetings in the recent state elections. Mayawati appealed to party workers to be cautious of rumors spreading on social media.
