Hans-Peter was fascinated by the handcrafted indigo-dyed clothing, the women’s large silver earrings, the custom of shaving the eyebrows, and the striking red headscarves worn by Dao women.
“At that time, many people were afraid of cameras,” Hans-Peter recalled.
“When I raised my camera to take a photo, they would often hide or run away.”
