The monsoon has returned with full force to most parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather bulletin, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several states.
According to the Meteorological Department, the coming 48 hours could prove extremely challenging for many states due to the continued moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal and the reactivation of the monsoon trough. The constantly changing weather patterns in many parts of the country are rapidly increasing the incidence of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. In view of this danger, the administration has appealed to the public to remain fully vigilant and take the Meteorological Department’s warnings seriously.
Monsoon has picked up pace once again
Rainfall had slowed slightly in many areas of the country over the past few days, but now the monsoon has picked up its pace again at an alarming rate. The Meteorological Department says that abundant moisture is currently being received from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. This is why the rainfall is rapidly expanding across large parts of North India, Central India, and Western India. Weather experts believe that this monsoon’s aggression may increase further in the coming days, leading to continuous torrential rains in many areas.
Clouds of disaster will rain in these states
The states for which the India Meteorological Department has issued the most significant warning include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. Torrential rain is expected in many districts of all these states. In fact, record-breaking rainfall could be recorded in some areas within just 24 hours, potentially disrupting normal life.
There is no hope of relief in Uttar Pradesh for the next five days.
Talking about Uttar Pradesh, the severity of the monsoon is continuously increasing here. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, heavy rains will continue for several days in the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain warnings have been issued in the state capital Lucknow as well as Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Basti, Kushinagar, Ballia, Deoria, Siddharthnagar and all the surrounding areas. Apart from this, heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning and stormy winds are also predicted in many places in western Uttar Pradesh.
Gujarat and Rajasthan face increased difficulties
Incessant rains in Gujarat over the past few days have led to severe waterlogging in several districts of the state. The water levels of many rivers, both large and small, have reached near the danger mark. In view of the situation, the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert and urged people to stay in safe places. Meanwhile, a new round of heavy rain is also expected in southern and eastern Rajasthan, where many areas are expected to experience downpours accompanied by strong winds.
A greater danger looms over the mountains
Due to continuous rainfall in the hilly states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the risk of landslides and mountain cracks has increased manifold. The state administration is keeping a close watch on all mountain roads, including the Char Dham Yatra routes. Experts say that the continuous rainfall has weakened the mountain soil significantly, which could lead to sudden disasters like massive landslides at any time.
Weather will change in Delhi-NCR
The weather in the national capital, Delhi, and its surrounding areas is set to change drastically over the next two days. The sky will remain overcast, and light to moderate rain is expected in many areas. This rain will bring relief from the humid heat and a drop in temperatures. However, heavy rain could also lead to severe traffic jams and waterlogging in many areas of Delhi-NCR.
The deadly danger of lightning strikes
The Meteorological Department has issued a dire warning of thunderstorms and lightning in several states. Experts have advised the public to avoid open fields during rain and to avoid taking shelter under large trees. Use mobile phones and any electrical appliances with extreme caution during lightning. Furthermore, farmers working in their fields should immediately move to a safe, secure location as soon as the weather worsens.
Special instructions and important advice for farmers
Although rain is generally considered very beneficial for Kharif crops, excess water can also destroy them. Agricultural experts have issued guidelines for farmers, urging them to ensure proper drainage of excess water from their fields. Avoid allowing water to accumulate in paddy and vegetable fields. Until the weather clears completely, stop spraying fertilizers and pesticides in the fields, and keep your pets tied up in safe, dry places.
Waterlogging in cities and administration on alert mode
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains could create river-like conditions on the roads in many major cities across the country. In view of this, the municipal corporations of all major cities, including Lucknow, Patna, Jaipur, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, and Surat, have already been given strict instructions to be fully prepared. Citizens have also been urged to avoid leaving their homes during the rains without any urgent work and to drive their vehicles very carefully on flooded roads.
