In the wake of the NEET paper leak and the subsequent outrage across the country, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again strongly criticized the central government. After meeting the families of students who committed suicide after the NEET paper leak and the cancellation of the exam during his visit to Tamil Nadu, he said that the students should not get forgiveness, but truth, justice and accountability.
Rahul Gandhi reacted on social media after interacting with the families of students Gopika, Roshini and Vetri Anandan. He said that these students who dreamed of medical education had to pay a heavy price for a flawed system. He mentioned that irregularities in the examination process, paper leakage and cancellation of exams caused mental stress on many students.
According to him, behind every student’s death is not just a number but a family’s dreams, sacrifices and hopes for the future. Therefore, he said, such incidents need to be viewed as serious flaws in the education system and not just as an administrative matter.
Rahul Gandhi further said that students are urged to study honestly, but their hard work is being undermined due to flaws in the examination system. Therefore, instead of blaming the students, the government should take concrete steps to make the education system more transparent, credible and accountable.
Rahul Gandhi also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on pardoning students who participated in the protest. According to him, the students do not need pardon, but the government should accept responsibility before their families, bring out the truth and take necessary action to provide justice.
The NEET paper leak case has shaken the confidence in the education system across the country, with many expressing their sentiments from various quarters. Against this backdrop, the demand for transparency, accountability and an effective system that prioritizes the mental health of students in the examination process is growing stronger.
