AC Coach Viral Video: Indian Railways frequently faces controversies regarding traveling without reservations in sleeper or AC coaches. One such video is going viral on social media, depicting a heated argument between a passenger and a ticket examiner (TTE) during ticket checking.
In the video, a man is seen lying on the upper berth of the train. When the TTE asks him to show his ticket and get down, he starts arguing from there instead.
The passenger argues that if there are vacant seats on the train, any passenger should have the right to sit there. However, it is unclear when or which train the video was taken from. Therefore, the claims in the video could not be independently verified.
The train belongs to the government, we will sit anywhere and will not pay even a single paisa.
Uncle was travelling comfortably lying on the sleeper berth after purchasing a general ticket. When the TTE caught him, instead of following the rules, he started giving advice.

Passenger boarded AC coach with general ticket
In the video, the passenger continuously questions the railway rules and says that he is ready to pay the actual fare till Guwahati, but “I will not pay even a quarter rupee more.” On the other hand, the TTE asks him to pay the additional charges and fine as per the railway rules.
When the passenger refuses to get off, the TTE asks him to get off his seat and threatens to call the Railway Protection Force (RPF) if necessary. The nearly two-minute-long video ends with this exchange.

After the video went viral, social media users criticized the passenger’s behavior. Many pointed out that railway rules are the same for all passengers and must be followed. According to Indian Railways rules, passengers with only a general ticket cannot travel in sleeper or AC coaches.
If someone wants to travel in a reserved coach, they must obtain the TTE’s permission and pay the prescribed additional fare and fine. Failure to comply with the rules may result in the TTE charging additional fees and, if necessary, the Railway Protection Force may be called upon to act against the passenger. Experts say that following the rules during travel is the hallmark of being a safe and responsible citizen.
