21-year-old student preparing for SSC exam commits suicide by hanging in Kanpur

A 21-year-old student, who was preparing for the SSC competitive examination, committed suicide by hanging himself in a rented room in Bara police station area. The incident came to light on Saturday evening when his friend went to meet him in the room. Despite knocking on the door for a long time, there was no response. After this, the landlord and the police were informed. When the police broke the door and entered the room, the student’s body was found hanging from a noose tied to a fan. After the investigation by the forensic team, the police have sent the body for postmortem and have started investigating the case.

According to reports, Amit Sahu (21), a resident of Tikrauli village in Hamirpur district, had been preparing for the SSC competitive examination in a rented accommodation in Damodar Nagar, Bara, Kanpur, for the last two years. He lived alone in a room on the third floor of Dinesh Dixit’s house. His father Siddh Gopal Sahu is a farmer, while his mother Rita is a housewife. Amit’s two elder brothers Anil and Sumit work in the railways.

Landlord Dinesh Dixit said that Amit’s friend Lucky came to meet him around 6:30 pm on Saturday. Despite knocking and shouting for a long time, there was no response. Both the window and door of the room were locked from inside. Fearing that something untoward had happened, he informed the landlord, who called the police and family members.

Bara police reached the spot and broke the door and entered the room in the presence of the forensic team. Everyone was shocked to see the scene inside. Amit’s dead body was hanging from a noose tied to a fan. The police inspected the spot and collected the necessary evidence.
