“Drug-free youth essential for a developed India”, PM Modi launches 100-week nationwide campaign

New Delhi: With the aim of making the country drug-free and inspiring youth to a healthy future, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the “Nasha Mukt Yuva Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan” via video conferencing. The campaign aims to keep youth away from drug addiction and inspire them to bring about positive change in society. It also marked the beginning of a 100-week nationwide public participation campaign against drug abuse.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this campaign is not just a fight against drug addiction, but a commitment to a better future for individuals, families, society, and the entire nation. He said that the dream of a developed India will only be realized when the country’s young generation is physically and mentally healthy, self-confident, and completely free from bad habits like drug addiction. He appealed to the youth to become a part of this campaign and raise awareness among others.

The initiative started from Kashi has now become a national campaign.

The Prime Minister explained that this initiative was launched last year as a pilot project in Kashi. Following the positive experience there, it has now been implemented across the country. He stated that the aim of this campaign is not only to spread awareness but also to bring about lasting change in society. He also informed that more than 125 spiritual organizations have joined the campaign and are contributing to the creation of a drug-free society.

Awareness activities will run for 100 weeks

As part of the campaign, various events will be organized across the country every Sunday for the next 100 weeks. These events will include sports competitions, walks, meditation sessions, cultural programs, street plays, awareness rallies, discussion forums, art competitions, and community engagement programs. The aim of these events is to raise awareness about the ill effects of drug addiction and inspire society to stay away from this evil.

A large number of youth and organizations became partners

Schools, colleges, universities, youth organizations, civil society groups, industry, and various social organizations have been involved in this campaign. The government believes that collective participation will strengthen the campaign’s impact. Youth from more than 10,000 locations across the country are expected to join this initiative.

Collaboration with over 125 spiritual organizations

Volunteers from MY Bharat, the National Service Scheme (NSS), youth clubs, NGOs, youth wings of industry organizations, and over 125 spiritual organizations are also playing an active role in this nationwide campaign. All these organizations will spread the message of abstinence from drugs to the public both virtually and on the ground. The government’s goal is to create a healthy, aware, and drug-free society through public participation.
