The monsoon season brings a surge in skin problems, as well as hair-related issues. High humidity can make the scalp oily, increasing the risk of dirt, sweat, and fungal infections. This impacts the hair roots and can increase hair breakage or hair loss. Hair expert Javed Habib recommends some simple tips to control hair loss.
Try these tips to stop hair loss:
Wash your hair regularly: Oil and dirt tend to accumulate on the scalp during the monsoon season. Therefore, wash your hair regularly with a mild shampoo as needed to keep the scalp clean and hair roots healthy.
Use oil instead of conditioner: If your hair isn’t too dry, consider using a light hair oil instead of a heavy conditioner during the monsoon season. Massage the oil in gently a few hours before washing your hair, then shampoo. This nourishes your hair and can reduce breakage.
Use Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth) : If your scalp tends to get excessively oily, apply a Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth) hair pack once a week. This helps remove excess oil and dirt, refreshing the scalp, and strengthening hair roots.
Also keep these things in mind:
Avoid combing wet hair, because when wet the hair becomes very weak and can break easily.
Avoid leaving your hair wet for extended periods of time. After shampooing, gently towel dry and let your hair dry naturally.
Minimize the use of heat styling tools.
Eat a balanced diet and consume the right amount of nutrients like protein, iron, biotin, zinc and vitamin D.
If your hair gets wet in the rain, wash it with clean water after returning home so that dirt and pollutants do not accumulate on the scalp.
If hair loss is persistent or severe, don’t rely solely on home remedies; consult a dermatologist.
