‘Maawan Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana’ got tremendous response in Punjab, Ludhiana became the district with the highest number of beneficiaries.

Punjab Government’s ambitious ‘Maawan Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana’ is getting wide support across the state. Under this scheme, run under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, 68.9 lakh beneficiaries have been registered till July 14, 2026. The state government says that this scheme is proving to be an important initiative towards connecting families with daughters to social security and government assistance.

According to the latest data, Ludhiana has emerged as the biggest beneficiary district of this scheme, where 7.4 lakh people have registered themselves under the scheme.

Most beneficiaries in these districts

After Ludhiana, Patiala is at second place, where 5.3 lakh beneficiaries have registered under the scheme. Apart from this, Amritsar (4.9 lakh), Jalandhar (4.8 lakh), Gurdaspur (4.4 lakh) and Hoshiarpur (4.2 lakh) are also included in the top districts. At the same time, minimum registration of 1.3 lakh beneficiaries has been registered in Malerkotla.

Why was Ludhiana at the forefront?

According to Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur, there are several major reasons behind the high registration in Ludhiana and other big districts. These include large population, strong administrative system and better awareness among people about government schemes.

He said that the entire machinery of the government is working together to take this scheme to as many eligible families as possible. District administration, Anganwadi workers and local bodies went door-to-door and informed people about the scheme and also cooperated in the application process.

Benefited from large population and better facilities

Experts believe that big cities like Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar are major centers of employment, education and business. Here the population of both urban and rural areas is high, due to which the number of eligible families is also naturally high.

Apart from this, availability of birth registration, Aadhar card, bank account and other important documents has also helped a large number of people to avail the benefits of the scheme. The process of application verification was also completed rapidly by the administration, which accelerated the registration.

Registration remained low in less populated districts

On the other hand, in relatively smaller districts like Malerkotla, Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Nawanshahr, the number of beneficiaries remained less. According to officials, the main reason for this is the low population of these districts and the relatively low number of eligible families. However, the government says that efforts are continuing to reach the scheme to the eligible beneficiaries in all the districts.

Important initiative towards women empowerment

The objective of ‘Maawan Dhiyaan Satkar Yojana’ is to connect families with daughters with social security and to provide them maximum benefits of government schemes. The government believes that through this scheme the welfare of women and daughters will get a new boost.

The rapidly increasing registrations in the state indicate that people are expressing confidence in this scheme. In the coming time, the government aims to further strengthen the efforts of women empowerment and social security by bringing 100 percent eligible families under the ambit of the scheme.
