Action on Jauhar University termed as anti-education step

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh termed the order for demolition of Johar University as unfortunate and said that this action shows how much the government hates centers of education and knowledge. He said that in a country where education should be promoted, preparations are being made to demolish a university due to political vendetta. According to Sanjay Singh, this is not just a matter of demolishing a building, but it is an attack on the future of thousands of students who are studying there or were about to study there.

Questions raised on the poor condition and closure of government schools in the country

Sanjay Singh cornered the government by presenting the data of falling levels of education and closing schools across the country. He said that during the current regime, about 1 lakh government schools of the country have been closed, which is a clear proof of the anti-education policy of the government. He sarcastically said that the agenda of the BJP government is not to improve the schools but to lock them so that the children of the poor can never study and join the army of their “blind devotees”.

Concern expressed over 1.25 lakh schools running on one teacher

Raising the issue of acute shortage of teachers in government schools, the AAP MP said that today the condition of 1.20 lakh government schools in the country is such that the entire system is dependent on only one teacher. He questioned whether a single teacher can provide quality education to children of five classes? Sanjay Singh said that by reducing the education system to ICU, the government is now celebrating the demolition of higher educational institutions, which is shameful for any democratic society.

Lack of toilet and basic facilities for daughters

Sanjay Singh, while exposing the claims of women empowerment, said that even today 98 thousand schools of the country do not have toilet facilities for girls. He said that the government which gives the slogan of “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” is not able to provide even basic facilities at the grassroots level. When schools lack basic infrastructure, the government’s entire focus is only on destroying the institutions built by opposition leaders.
