Patna. A major step has been taken to accelerate industrial development in Bihar. The state government has submitted a proposal to the central government to develop two modern industrial parks in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga. If this proposal is approved, Bihar could receive central assistance of approximately ₹1,050 crore. This will also create new employment opportunities for thousands of youth.
Industrial parks in Muzaffarpur and Darbhangaa
Under the state government’s plan, industrial parks will be developed on approximately 700 acres of land in the Paru area of Muzaffarpur district and 350 acres in Bahadurpur, Darbhanga. A total of 1,050 acres of land has been identified for both projects. The proposal has been submitted to the central government, and construction will begin upon approval.
Thousands of youth can get employment
The opening of these two industrial parks will boost the establishment of industries. It is estimated that the projects could provide direct and indirect employment to approximately 12,000 people. This will provide better employment opportunities to local youth in their own areas and is also expected to reduce migration.
Development will take place under the ‘Bhavya’ plan
The construction of these parks is proposed under the Bharat Industrial Development Scheme (Bhavya). The scheme aims to strengthen the manufacturing sector in the country and develop India as a global manufacturing hub. The scheme will be implemented from 2026-27 to 2031-32, and the central government has allocated thousands of crores of rupees for it. Under this scheme, 100 industrial parks are to be developed across the country, with only a limited number of projects approved in the initial phase. Therefore, this proposal is considered very important for Bihar.
The park will be equipped with modern facilities
Both industrial parks will be equipped with modern facilities tailored to the needs of industries. These include improved road networks, electricity and water supply, drainage systems, ready-made factory sheds, warehouses, testing laboratories, and labor housing. This will create a conducive environment for industrial operations.

The next steps for this entire project now depend on the central government’s approval. If the proposal is approved, it will not only increase industrial investment in Bihar but also boost employment, trade, and the local economy. This initiative could prove crucial in establishing a new identity for the state in the field of industrial development.
