Lucknow, August 3. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, releasing his monthly appeal, “Yogi Ki Patti,” on the occasion of the month of Shravan, called on the people of the state to transform service, cleanliness, water conservation, environmental enhancement, and social harmony into a mass movement. He said that Shravan is not only a month of religious faith, but also conveys the message of gratitude to nature, public welfare, and collective participation.
Lord Shiva’s Sacrifice of Life and Inspiration for Public Welfare
The Chief Minister said that Lord Shiva’s drinking of the Halahal poison during the churning of the ocean symbolizes supreme sacrifice for the protection of the universe. The tradition of offering water to Shiva also conveys the message of sacrifice, gratitude, and public welfare. He said that Lord Shiva’s form teaches the coexistence of humanity and nature, and Shravan is the best opportunity to imbibe this spirit.
Shravan is a festival to unite society and foster the spirit of service.
Yogi Adityanath said that during the rainy season, the earth becomes covered with greenery. Collective labor and cooperation during rice transplantation in rural areas are a testament to the vibrant traditions of Indian culture. Meanwhile, the throngs of devotees at Shiva temples reinforce the spirit of service, cleanliness, and social participation.
Water Conservation: The Urgent Need of the Hour
The Chief Minister, describing water conservation as the most pressing need of the present times, said that water is the fundamental basis of life among the five elements. He stated that approximately 20,000 Amrit Sarovars have been developed in Uttar Pradesh, representing a significant achievement in water conservation. Citing the example of a residential society in Lucknow, he said that thousands of liters of rainwater are being used daily to recharge groundwater through rainwater harvesting. He described this initiative as inspiring and exemplary for society.
Resolve to Conserve Every Drop of Water and Every Plant
The Chief Minister said that in the face of climate change and increasing exploitation of natural resources, it is important to pledge to give back to nature as much as we take from it. He appealed to the people of the state to make the month of Shravan a campaign of service, cleanliness, water conservation, environmental protection, and social harmony.
He urged every citizen to pledge to save every drop of water and plant as many trees as possible. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that public participation, environmental sensitivity, and collective efforts will lay the strong foundation for a prosperous, safe, and developed Uttar Pradesh.
