Heavy rain alert issued in 15 states, weather expected to change with strong winds

New Delhi: With the beginning of August, monsoon winds have once again begun to intensify across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for moderate to heavy rainfall in over 15 states over the next few days. While torrential rains in the hilly areas pose a threat of landslides, the plains will experience heavy downpours accompanied by strong winds and lightning. Wind speeds can reach 30 to 75 kilometers per hour. Areas along the central and eastern Himalayan foothills will also experience increased rainfall intensity over the next four to five days.

Situation Critical in the Northeast

According to meteorologists, rainfall activity is expected to suddenly intensify in the states of Northeast India. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sikkim over the next five days.

On the other hand, rainfall will slow slightly in southern peninsular India, although isolated heavy showers are expected over coastal and south interior Karnataka over the next 48 hours.

Clouds Prevail in Delhi-NCR

The weather in Delhi and surrounding areas will remain pleasant on August 3 and 4. The sky will be overcast, and rain is expected. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 23 to 24 degrees Celsius. No specific warning or alert has been issued for Delhi residents at this time, but the rain will certainly provide relief from the humid heat.

Heavy Rain Warning in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Residents of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar may face waterlogging and heavy rain in the coming days. Intermittent moderate to heavy rain is expected to continue in Uttar Pradesh from August 3 to 8. A warning has been issued for widespread rain, particularly in western Uttar Pradesh from August 4th to 7th, and in eastern Uttar Pradesh from August 3rd to 7th.

In Bihar, cloud cover will prevail in almost all districts from August 3rd to 5th, while heavy rain is expected in many areas on August 4th and 5th. Strong winds, gusting to 30 to 50 kilometers per hour, could disrupt normal life.
