There will be strictness on insulting Vande Mataram, preparation of 3 years jail in the government’s new bill

Tezzbuzz Desk – The central government is preparing to introduce several important bills in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament. Among these, the biggest discussion is regarding ‘Vande Mataram’ bill. According to the information, Home Minister Amit Shah can first present this bill in the Rajya Sabha.

The purpose of this proposed law is to make insulting, intentionally causing obstruction or causing interference in the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ a punishable offence. For this, the government is preparing to bring the Prevention of Insults to National Honor (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

Provision of jail for three years

Under the proposed amendment, if a person is found guilty of insulting ‘Vande Mataram’ or obstructing its organization, he can be punished with imprisonment of up to three years. This punishment will be similar to the punishment prescribed for insulting the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ in the existing law.

Will get protection like national symbols

If this bill is passed by both houses of Parliament, ‘Vande Mataram’ will also get legal protection like national symbols like the national anthem, national flag and the Constitution.

According to existing law, it is an offense to intentionally cause disruption or prevent the singing of the national anthem. There is a provision of imprisonment up to three years, fine or both. After the new amendment, similar rules can be applied to ‘Vande Mataram’ also.

Keep an eye on many big bills in monsoon session

According to the government’s strategy, efforts will be made to get important bills and ordinances approved first in the monsoon session. Apart from the ‘Vande Mataram’ bill, the Income Tax Amendment Bill and the bill related to the number of Supreme Court judges are also said to be included in the agenda.

Monsoon session will start from July 20

The monsoon session of Parliament will start from July 20 and continue till August 13. The government claims that it has enough support in the House to pass important bills.

Now everyone’s eyes will be on when the ‘Vande Mataram’ Bill will be presented in the Parliament and what kind of debate will be seen on it in the House.
