According to preliminary investigations, Aditya was assigned to conduct reconnaissance of VVIPs. He would monitor their activities while in their vicinity and pass their photographs to terrorists. The Special Task Force (STF) is also investigating the case from the angle of a honey-trap plot to kidnap Minister Umesh Rai’s son. Aditya is currently being questioned, and his information may lead to the arrest of several other individuals.
It should be noted that the Bengal Special Task Force (STF) arrested suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Hamim Mandal from Purba Bardhaman district on July 31st. Documents related to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s activities, VIP movements, and his security arrangements were recovered from him. It has also been revealed that Hamim Mandal is close to Sajjad Bhat, the mastermind of the Pulwama attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Based on Hamim Mandal’s interrogation, the STF arrested his girlfriend, Arpita Sarkar, from Sahibganj, Jharkhand on August 1st. According to the STF, WhatsApp chats between Hamim and Arpita revealed their connection to the Jaish terrorist network. The STF claims that Arpita used to honeytrap influential people.
