Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will showcase India’s aerospace and defense capabilities at the Farnborough International Air Show to be held in Hampshire, UK from July 20 to 24.

New Delhi: India is preparing to showcase its growing capabilities in the defense and aerospace sector on the global stage. On one hand, India’s leading defense company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will showcase the strength of indigenous fighter aircraft and helicopters at the Farnborough International Air Show 2026 to be held in Britain, while on the other hand, the Indian Navy will host a major multinational maritime exercise in Kochi.

Through these two events, India will not only showcase its indigenous defense technology and production capacity to the world, but will also try to strengthen international cooperation and strategic partnerships.

Strength of Tejas and Prachanda will be seen in Farnborough Air Show

HAL will represent India’s aerospace capabilities at the Farnborough International Air Show to be held in Hampshire, UK from July 20 to 24. The Indian delegation led by the company’s Chairman and Managing Director Ravi K will participate in this prestigious global event. HAL will display many of its important indigenous defense platforms during this period. These mainly include:

    • LCA Tejas (Light Combat Aircraft Tejas) – India’s indigenous light combat aircraft
    • Light Combat Helicopter Prachand (LCH Prachand) – Modern combat helicopter
    • Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv (ALH Dhruv)
    • Rudra Helicopter
    • Light Utility Helicopter (LUH)

Through these platforms, India will showcase its design, engineering, research and defense manufacturing capabilities to international buyers and partners.

Eyeing strategic collaboration with global companies

Farnborough Air Show is not only a platform for showcasing defense equipment, but is also considered an important opportunity for business and technical cooperation at the global level. HAL plans to expand partnerships with international companies in aircraft systems, aero engines, avionics, maintenance, repair and high-tech manufacturing sectors.

In this direction, the company will explore potential collaboration with leading global defense and aerospace companies such as GE Aerospace, Eaton Aerospace, Honeywell, Safran, Martin-Baker and MBDA. India aims not only to produce defense equipment but also to strengthen its role in the global defense supply chain.

Indian defense industry will get global platform

The Farnborough Air Show will also include an Indian defense industry delegation in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM), the UK Ministry of Defense and the UK-India Business Council to enhance Indian defense industry participation. The objective of this initiative is to connect Indian private companies and startups with the global defense market and explore new opportunities for technical cooperation and investment.

India is also going to strengthen its role in the maritime sector of defense cooperation. The Indian Navy will host the multinational training exercise ‘Operation Southern Readiness 2026’ at the Southern Naval Command, Kochi from 20 July. Representatives of the navies of more than 40 countries associated with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) will participate in this exercise.

Focus will be on maritime security and new technology

Theoretical and practical training will be given to the participants during ‘Operation Southern Readiness 2026’. In this, preparation will be done to deal with real situations through modern simulators, naval ships and various training activities. Key topics of practice will include:

    • Maritime Law
    • Maritime Domain Awareness
    • intelligence and information sharing
    • maritime security challenges
    • stop drug trafficking
    • asymmetric maritime threats
    • Use of Unmanned Maritime Systems

The Farnborough Air Show and the naval exercises in Kochi showcase India’s defense diplomacy and indigenous technological capability. While platforms like Tejas and Prachanda symbolize India’s self-reliant defense production capability, the multinational naval exercise reflects India’s growing role in maritime security.
