The wk-batter Kanhaiya Wadhawan will be leading the North Zone Squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy in the 2026-27 season. Meanwhile, all-rounder Ayush Badoni has been serving as the deputy captain.
Meanwhile, there is a notable inclusion where fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, who played his red-ball match at last year’s Duleep Trophy.
The North Zone squad will feature most of the Jammu & Kashmir players who were the winners of the previous Ranji Trophy season.
Apart from Wadhawan, opener Qamran Iqbal, batter Abdul Samad, left-arm spin all-rounder Abid Mushtaq and the fast bowling duo of Sunil Kumar and Yudhvir Singh were included in the squad.
Abdul Samad was J&K’s highest run scorer in the previous Ranji season, scoring 748 runs in 15 innings at 57.33.
Meanwhile, Wadhawan also had an impressive season with 474 runs in 13 innings at 36.46. Iqbal made an impressive knock, putting up an unbeaten 160 in the finals against Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Mushtaq, who scored 445 runs and picked 20 wickets, will be filling the team’s spin all-rounder role along with Nishant Sindhu.
Meanwhile, four players from Delhi have been named in the squad. The list includes batters Ayush Doseja and Sanat Sangwan, who emerged as the second and third highest run scorers in the last Ranji season.
Doseja scored 949 runs in 12 innings from seven matches at 105.44, which included four centuries and five half-centuries. On the other hand, Sangwan scored 828 runs in seven matches at an average of 69.00, with three centuries and three half-centuries.
Apart from them, Yash Dhull and Ayush Badoni have been named in the squad for the second consecutive time.
The fast bowler Anshul Kamboj will be joining Arshdeep Singh, Yudhvir and Sunil in the pace department. However, Aquib Nabi has been left out as he was included in the India squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tests.
North Zone will be playing their first match against West Zone on August 23 at the BCCI’s CoE in Bengaluru.
