Despite Indonesia enjoying more possession, Vietnam defended resolutely, with goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang producing several crucial saves and center back Bui Hoang Viet Anh overcoming an eye injury to deliver a commanding display.
Vietnam remained dangerous after the break through rapid counterattacks. Substitutes Nguyen Xuan Son and Do Hoang Hen immediately added attacking spark, creating several chances before Xuan Son sealed the victory in the 71st minute, racing onto Hoang Duc’s through ball and calmly finishing to make it 3-0.
The dominant win leaves Vietnam in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage. They need only a positive result against Cambodia in their final group match, while Indonesia and Singapore will battle for the remaining semifinal spot.
