The traditional ‘Renuka Mata Tambul’ Prasad offered to the goddess at the Sri Renuka Mata Mandir at Mahur Fort, the main pilgrimage site among the three and a half Shaktipeeths, has been awarded an Official Geographical Indication (GI Tag) by the Central Government. Renuka Mata Tambul is now the second Prasad to get GI rating after the Ladoo served in Prasad at Tirupati Balaji temple. Shri Renuka Mata had instructed her devoted devotee Shri Vishnukavi Maharaj in a dream to initiate the offering of Tambula. After that, the work of preparing the tambul is still going on in the temple every day from morning till night. Amol Gawande, Pandurang Rathod, Vishal Choudhary, Santosh Paralkar, Anil Paralkar, Abhishek Paralkar and Lavkush Jadhav, seven traditional Sevakari families are doing the sacred work of preserving the heritage tradition of offering and worshiping the Goddess from generation to generation. Tambul recipe:
A total of 14 ingredients are used to make tambul in Renuka Mata temple like nagveli leaves, kaat, lime, betel nut, soap, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, nutmeg, ova, coriander, asman star, licorice and chamanbar. All these ingredients are combined in a stone mortar and finely divided. So Tambul is not just a prasad but a food considered very important for human health and digestion. Renuka Mata Tambul of Mahur will get international legal protection which will curb counterfeit products in the market. Consuming Prasad, which is rich in various medicinal properties, will provide immense benefits to the body in addition to improving digestion.
