BJP took aim
After the video went viral, Maharashtra Revenue Minister and BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule attacked the Congress party. He said such incidents reflect the Congress party’s working style and political culture. Bawankule said that politicians should avoid such actions, as they only lead to criticism and disrepute. He added that leaders in public life should be more cautious about their behavior.
Nana Patole clarified
Following the controversy, Nana Patole stated that the matter was being blown out of proportion. According to him, the incident occurred on Guru Purnima. He explained that two young members of his family, considering him their guru, had expressed their desire to perform the ritual as a mark of respect.
Patole said, “I consider myself neither a saint nor a spiritual guru. I didn’t even feel comfortable with anyone touching my feet, but at the insistence of family members, it happened. I neither asked nor encouraged anyone to do so.”
