On Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike, movement is a democratic right: Supriya Sule!

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule commented on Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike and recent developments. He said that in a democracy every citizen has the right to protest peacefully. It is extremely sad that such an incident took place in a peaceful movement.
Along with this, he also reacted to the proposed delimitation and the meeting of senior party leader Jayant Patil with Chief Minister Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Shinde.

On Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike and recent developments, MP Supriya Sule said that they have discussed the issue and the party’s chief spokesperson Anees Gawande is present in Delhi and monitoring the situation. It is very sad that such an incident took place in a movement which was going on completely peacefully.

I myself went to the protest site and saw the situation there. In a strong democracy every person has the right to protest. Sonam Wangchuk was running her movement in a completely peaceful manner. The way he was taken from there is against the Constitution.

On the proposed delimitation bill, Supriya Sule said that the delimitation bill has not yet come from the government. When the bill has not come, there is no proposal, then how can anything be said without seeing it? First the government should bring the bill, then after reading it we will give our detailed opinion.

He also adopted the same stand on the question related to 50 percent reservation for women. He said that there is no clarity in this matter right now and it would not be right to reach any conclusion until the bill comes out.

Supriya Sule also reacted to the ongoing political speculations regarding senior NCP-SP leader Jayant Patil’s meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He said that there was nothing confidential in this meeting.

He questioned that if the meeting had taken place secretly, would he have shared its picture on social media. He himself has posted the photo of the meeting. This was a completely official meeting and was held openly. There is no big deal in this.

Supriya Sule further said that her party leaders always work with transparency. Giving an example, she said that recently she herself had met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and that meeting was also completely public. We go through the front door, not the people through the back door. Whatever meeting takes place, it happens openly.
