All-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the third ODI due to injury. In his place, young spin bowling all-rounder Harsh Dubey has been included in the Indian team. Sundar, who played an important role in India’s victory by scoring a brilliant half-century in the first ODI, is now out of the entire series.

Got injured in the second ODI

Let us tell you that Washington Sundar was injured during the second ODI played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. While taking runs in the 33rd over of India’s innings, he suffered a strain in his right hamstring. After this the team physio reached the field and treated him. Strapping was done on his thigh, after which he continued batting. However, on the very next ball, he was caught by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler on Saqib Mahmood’s short ball. Sundar was out after scoring just two runs. Due to injury, he could not even field during England’s innings and in his place Arshdeep Singh played the role of substitute fielder.

BCCI gave a big update

BCCI issued a press release saying that Washington Sundar’s right hamstring injury has been confirmed. For this reason, he has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the ODI series against England. Now their detailed scanning will be done. After this, experts will assess his injury and further treatment and rehabilitation will be planned.

Harsh Dubey got a chance

After Sundar’s exclusion, the selection committee has included 23-year-old Harsh Dubey in the Indian team. Harsh is a left arm spin bowling all-rounder. He has already played two ODI matches for India against Afghanistan. He took four wickets in those matches. However, he did not get a chance to bat. Harsh has made his mark on the basis of his consistently good performance in domestic cricket. Now he will have a big chance to prove himself against a strong team like England. It will be interesting to see whether the team management gives him a place in the playing eleven directly or not.

Sundar shone in the first ODI

In the first ODI played at Edgbaston, India defeated England by six wickets. Washington Sundar played an important role in that victory. Along with Axar Patel, he played a half-century innings and managed the team in difficult times. After the early dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Sundar’s innings became a major reason for India’s victory. Then in the second ODI, England won by four wickets and leveled the series 1-1. Now the third match to be held at Lord’s will decide the series. The Indian team will definitely miss Sundar, but Harsh Dubey will have a great opportunity to make this occasion memorable.
