Farmers’ anger over black marketing of fertilizer taking place in Biskoman
Tribeniganj fertilizer shopkeepers, fertilizer shopkeepers and even government undertakings are not lagging behind in looting the farmers. A case of irregularities in fertilizer distribution and black marketing has come to light in Biscomaan amid the planting of paddy during the pick hour of Kharif season. On Saturday, angry farmers created a ruckus at the center due to adequate quantity of IFFCO DAP, potash and mixture fertilizer not being given to the farmers in the warehouse of Biscomaan. The limit reached when even on Friday the manager found the center completely closed without any prior notice, due to which the farmers coming from far away places returned disappointed after standing in queues the whole day.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Agriculture Department has sought clarification from the Biscomaun Manager.
Government fertilizers are being sold at expensive prices. Angry farmers allege that middlemen are dominant within the Biskoman Centre. The fertilizer which should be available to farmers at government rates is being black marketed and is being sold indiscriminately at higher prices in private shops in the market. Even after standing in the queue since morning, common farmers are turned away on the pretext of running out of fertiliser. But the Agriculture Department is sleeping like Kumbhakarna. Farmers allege that the peak season of paddy planting is going on. At this time there is a dire need of DAP in the fields. If fertilizer is not available on time, then the failure of the Kharif crop is certain, which will have a direct impact on our livelihood.
