A massive fire broke out in a private sleeper coach bus running in Tamil Nadu, 23 passengers were on board.

Perambalur. A massive fire suddenly broke out in a private sleeper coach bus going from Chennai to Madurai in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu today i.e. Saturday morning. There were 23 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident. However, due to the prudence of the bus driver and immediate action, all the passengers were evacuated safely in time, thereby averting a major accident.

Bus burnt on highway

According to the information received, this incident occurred at around 5:30 am on the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli National Highway. During the journey, seeing sudden smoke and sparks rising in the bus, the driver immediately stopped the vehicle on the side of the road. After that, the driver and bus staff, without wasting any time, woke up the sleeping passengers and got them down. As soon as the passengers alighted, the fire took a huge form and within no time the entire bus was engulfed in flames. As soon as information about this incident was received, local police from Mangalamedu and fire engines from Perambalur reached the spot. After hard work, about 15 firefighters completely brought the fire under control by 7:00 am. Although there is no report of any casualty or injury in this accident, the luggage of the passengers has been burnt to ashes.

Traffic affected, investigation ongoing

Due to this terrible accident, there was a jam on the national highway for some time. The police showed promptness and diverted the traffic to other routes and brought the situation under control. For now, arrangements have been made for alternative vehicles to send the affected passengers to their destinations. The police have registered the case and initially the cause of the fire is believed to be short circuit. However, the real reasons for this accident are being investigated.
