The 72nd National Film Awards recognize excellence in Indian cinema in 2024. These awards were announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The awards were evaluated by an 11-member central jury, chaired by eminent Malayalam filmmaker Jayaraj. Jayaraj conducted the final selection process after reviewing the entries received from across the country.

The program is organized by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) and has a well-established jury. These awards aim to honor the artistic and technical achievements of Indian cinema while maintaining a formal presentation, free from public prejudices.

The date of the National Awards ceremony has not been announced yet, but the ceremony is expected to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where traditionally the President of India presents the National Film Awards to the winners. Recent editions including the 70th and 71st National Film Awards have also been held at the same venue.
